When it comes to Game 7s everybody loves to tell you how you can throw the numbers out the window ... except for important numbers, like the records of teams that score first (they win 74 percent of the time).
Brian Boyle opens Game 7 scoring for Rangers
Will Brian Boyle’s first period goal be what helps get the New York Rangers to the Eastern Conference Final?

On Tuesday in Pittsburgh, it was Brian Boyle getting the all-important first goal when he capitalized on an odd-man rush created by the one breakdown the Penguins had in the first period.
That wasn't a particularly good sequence for Matt Niskanen as he whiffed on a shot in the offensive zone, then went for the big hit along the wall the blue line and missed, creating a three-on-one rush for the Rangers.
For Boyle, it’s his second goal of the playoffs and his first of the series.
