Stanley Cup Playoffs: Kings make easy work of Ducks, advance to Western Conference Final

Justin Williams did his thing in another Game 7 as the Los Angeles Kings moved on to their third straight Western Conference Final.

The NHL may be losing one of its best and most exciting players ever, but it seems that some rec league in Southern California will be gaining its best player.

Selanne played 14 minutes on Friday, including the final minute of regulation, and recorded three shots on goal.

In Game 7 on Friday night, it all fell apart.

His Game 7 struggles aside, Gibson has given the Ducks reason to believe he’s going to be their goaltender of the future and has the potential to be one of the most valuable commodities in the league: A No. 1 goalie on an entry level deal.

And then this happened.

For Williams, it’s his sixth career Game 7 goal (to go with five assists) in six games, which is obviously a pretty good pace. Here’s a look at his latest big-game goal, via @MyRegularFace.

Williams gets a lot of attention for all of this elimination-game goals, but let’s not forget that he’s a pretty good player in other games, too. Since being acquired by the Kings as part of a multiple-team trade during the 2008-09 season, he’s been one of their most reliable players, consistently scoring at a 20-goal, 50-point place and playing a steady two-way game.

Aside from the obvious Game 7 implications, there’s one other storyline that hangs in the balance: Will this be Teemu Selanne’s last-ever NHL game? The 43-year-old legend is retiring after the season ends, and that could come tonight with an Anaheim loss.
