Rangers take commanding series lead over Canadiens with Game 4 win
Martin St. Louis scored in overtime to give the Rangers a 4-3 win and a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference Final.
The New York Rangers are one step away from the Stanley Cup Final after earning a 3-2 overtime win over the Montreal Canadiens in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final, pushing the Canadiens to the brink of elimination with a 3-1 series lead.
The series now shifts to Montreal, where the Rangers can clinch a berth in the Final with a win on enemy ice.
Montreal, which is now 1-for-17 on the power play in the series, failed to convert on seven offensive zone penalties by the Rangers. Henrik Lundqvist earned his league-leading 11th playoff win for the Rangers.
The Canadiens' power play struggles began early in Game 4, as a turnover off a faceoff win led to a breakaway shorthanded goal by Rangers forward Carl Hagelin midway through the first period.

Montreal eventually tied the game thanks to a goal from Francois Bouillon in the second period, but New York dominated play for the remainder of the frame with a 11-5 shot advantage. Another clean breakaway was converted by Derick Brassard late in the period to restore New York's one-goal lead.
Montreal finally earned their first power play goal of the series when P.K. Subban scored off a slap shot from the point just two minutes into the final frame. Neither team managed a quality chance for the rest of the period, and Game 4 headed to overtime.
That's when Martin St. Louis converted on the third breakaway chance of the night for New York, firing a sniped shot from the corner past Dustin Tokarski for the game-winner. It was his fourth goal and seventh point in the last six playoff games.
