The New York Rangers will have forward Derek Stepan back in the lineup for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Montreal Canadiens. The Rangers will attempt to finish off Montreal and clinch their first trip to the Stanley Cup Final since 1994.
Stepan was injured in Game 3 after he was on the receiving end of a late hit from Canadiens forward Brandon Prust. Even though Stepan returned after the hit, it was later revealed that he suffered a broken jaw and had to miss the Rangers’ 3-2 overtime win in Game 4.
Prust was suspended two games for the hit.
Stepan played all 82 games in the regular season, scoring 17 goals to go with 40 assists. He followed that up with three goals and eight assists in his first 17 playoff games.
Stepan was skating on a line with Rick Nash and Chris Kreider during pregame warmups on Tuesday.
