Brandon Saad laughs at Clayton Stoner for taking a penalty

Stoner would like his Game 2 mulligan now, please.

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Chicago Blackhawks fans at the United Center erupted with angry boos when the referees missed a blatant tripping call in the opening minutes of Game 2.

It's still sort of amazing that they missed it, considering how Blackhawks winger Brandon Saad wildly flipped in the air when he was tripped by Minnesota Wild captain Mikko Koivu. No whistles blew, but Saad was determined to get his team an early power play.

So, naturally, he walked right over to burly Wild defenseman Clayton Stoner and started yapping at him until he cross-checked him. Saad's reaction was absolutely priceless.

Stoner went to the box, and the Blackhawks got the power play they deserved. Mission accomplished.

But Stoner wasn't done making an impact in the first period. See the Wild player chasing desperately after Marian Hossa and then failing to clean up the rebound before Jonathan Toews scores?

Yeah. That’s Clayton Stoner. The first intermission can’t come quick enough for him.
