Chicago Blackhawks enforcer Daniel Carcillo had himself quite a night on Friday. After engaging in verbal jousting with Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane earlier, Carcillo stepped into controversy in the second period with a questionable cross-check.
Dan Carcillo cross-checks Mathieu Perreault from behind
Carcillo crossed the line on Friday.

The play occurred in the dying seconds of the period. As the Jets rotated the puck around the end boards, Jets center Mathieu Perreault was called for slashing. For some reason, Carcillo took the opportunity to cross-check him from behind.
Perreault had to be helped off the ice, favoring his left arm. He did not immediately return for the third period, and Carcillo was assessed a two-minute minor penalty.
Will the league take a look at this play? You’d have to think so, considering it came on the same day they suspended Boston’s Brad Marchand for a similarly reckless play. Carcillo has a history, too; he’s been suspended twice for multiple games.
