Panthers goalie pulls the bench door prank on unsuspecting Stars player

Never saw it coming.

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

The life of a backup goalie must get boring sometimes. You spend two hours every other night just sitting on your stool with a baseball cap on, watching a hockey game while nobody talks to you. The only time you get to play is when the starter gets injured or is playing badly, so nobody is in a good mood when you’re actually involved.

Sounds lame, right? So you'll have to forgive Florida Panthers backup goalie Al Montoya for having a little fun at the expense of an opposing player on Saturday.

Midway through the second period, Panthers center Dave Bolland got tangled with Dallas Stars winger Ales Hemsky right next to the Panthers' bench door. Hemsky seemed stuck, so Montoya pulled the old bench door trick on him.

That’ll be the most interesting thing to happen to Montoya tonight, so kudos to him for making it so hilarious.
