Blake Wheeler basically dunked on an opposing goalie

This is the hockey equivalent of a dunk.

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

No forward in the NHL is as hot as Blake Wheeler to start the season. The Winnipeg Jets winger has a point in every game his team has played this season, and the latest one was a show of force.

The Jets were trailing the Tampa Bay Lightning by a goal at home in the third period on Friday when Winnipeg dumped the puck in behind the opposing net. Lightning goalie Ben Bishop went to retrieve it, but then Wheeler appeared out of nowhere, stripped the puck off him and dunked it home to tie the game.

That’s exactly what it was: a hockey dunk. All it was missing was a cocky signature finger wag as Wheeler strutted back up the ice to defend.
