Scott Gomez bats puck out of midair for his first goal with St. Louis

It's taken five games for Scott Gomez to get his first goal in a St. Louis Blues sweater, but it's a pretty one.

Late in the first period of a scoreless hockey game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Gomez was left alone all in front of goaltender Ben Bishop. Colton Parayko's shot from the blue line gets through immediate traffic to Gomez, who deflects the puck with a flourish down over Bishop's shoulder and into the net for the score.

Bishop immediately signals to the officials that it might have been played with a high stick, but Gomez gets it in under the crossbar for a magnificent opening deflection goal.
