The Flames and Senators keep running into their own teammates

You’re supposed to run over the other team.

Candice Ward-USA TODAY Sports

Hockey is hard enough when the opposing team is throwing bodies at you right and left trying to check you off the puck. The Flames and Senators seem intent on making life even more difficult for themselves on Wednesday.

In separate instances in the first period, both Senators and Flames players randomly ran into their own teammates. The first victims of friendly fire were the Senators when Zack Smith forgot to watch where he was going.

Not to be outdone, the Flames one-upped their opponents with an even more comical collision near the benches.

Can someone be suspended for a hit on their own teammate? We just might find out at this rate.
