On Saturday, Kessel made his first return to Toronto since the trade that sent him from the Maple Leafs to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the offseason. Kessel spent six years in Toronto as one of the league's best goal-scorers, but was a constant (undeserved) target of criticism by the media as the Leafs struggled to compete.
So you might not be surprised by the reception Kessel got when he touched the puck for the first time at Air Canada Centre.
Yeah. That’s kind of a shame. Luckily, Kessel was expecting nothing less.
