The Hartford Whalers came back from the dead to wish everyone a happy new NHL season

This isn’t a happy time for everyone.

The NHL season kicked back into gear on Wednesday, and fans in thirty cities across America rejoiced as their favorite ice-based sport returned from a long offseason.

Until the long-defunct Hartford Whalers rained on the parade.

See, that's just backhandedly sad. The Whalers moved to Carolina to become the Hurricanes in 1997, so that tweet from the "Official Twitter account of the Hartford Whalers Hockey Club" (according to their bio) is devastatingly depressing.

The only thing that could make us more sad for Whalers fans is if former Whaler player Adam Burt involved his adorable do-
