One of the most important players in San Jose Sharks history may be ready to move on from the team.
Patrick Marleau reportedly open to trade from Sharks
San Jose’s greatest scorer knows which teams he’d accept a trade to.

According to CSN California, Sharks forward Patrick Marleau informed the team that he would accept a trade to one of three teams. Those teams are reportedly the New York Rangers, Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings. Marleau has a no-trade clause in his contract and would need to approve any deal Sharks general manager Doug Wilson drums up.
What makes this case interesting is that instead of the team looking to move the player, Marleau seems to have initiated the trade interest himself.
It is less likely SJ asked Marleau to waive NTC and more likely that Marleau asked SJ to explore trade possibilities to select teams.

— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) November 11, 2015 That seems to be in line with Doug Wilson’s modus operandi. In March, he told CSN that he wouldn’t ask players to waive their no-trade clause. Instead, they would have to approach him first.
Marleau has four goals and nine points in 16 games this season. The 36-year-old is the Sharks’ franchise leader in scoring with 997 points.
