Marc-Andre Fleury made a save of the year contender during practice

The race for the season’s best save doesn’t take practice off.

When it comes to save of the year nominees, apparently practices are now fair game.

The Pittsburgh Penguins were running through drills on Friday during morning skate to prepare for hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets later that night. Forward Nick Bonino thought he had goalie Marc-Andre Fleury beat with a sharp backhand-to-forehand deke in tight, but Fleury recovered in style.

So, note to Columbus: don’t try that move on Friday night. It will not end well for you.
