The skate kick rule is well-known by now in the NHL. This isn't soccer, so clearly you shouldn't be allowed to kick a puck into the net. Brayden Schenn was caught doing so on a goal that would have broken the 1-1 tie against the Los Angeles Kings, but was it really a kick?

You be the judge!

— Stephanie (@myregularface) November 18, 2015 It sure looks like one on first glance. Schenn's skate clearly moves in the direction of the puck as it nears him, imitating what normally would be a distinct kicking motion. However, Schenn is also falling to the ice while being pushed, making a case that he was only trying to find purchase on the ice instead of making a kick for the puck.
Regardless, the referees on the ice initially ruled it a goal, but after further review, it was overturned. Flyers head coach Ron Hextall looked less than pleased.
