TSN bench reporter interviews his son during his Bruins debut

A moment the Ferraro family won’t soon forget.

One of the great things about the NHL is the sheer amount of father-son relationships throughout the sport, from players to coaches to front office types.

That tradition now extends to bench reporters after TSN's Ray Ferraro interviewed his son, Landon, during the latter's NHL debut with the Boston Bruins on Monday.

Landon Ferraro was claimed off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings by Boston recently, meaning he would get a chance to play a game his father was scheduled to cover for TSN. It set up one of the warmest moments of the NHL season so far.

Boy, Landon must have gotten that broadcast voice from his father. You could tell they didn’t know whether to hug after the interview, but I’m sure the journalistic rules on objectivity could be waived there.

Landon cracked wise about the encounter to the Boston Herald after the game:

“He asked me one question and I was kind of shaking my head: ‘That was a terrible question.’ I kind of wanted to say it. I probably shouldn’t have. But now I’ve just skewered him.”

“It was different. It’s something that’s pretty cool for a family to have, and maybe get a picture of it or something. It’ll be something that’s pretty cool to keep for a long time.”
