Phil Kessel shot a puck off the crossbar so hard it landed in the Penguins’ bench

That’s a new one.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

We all knew Phil Kessel had one of the best snapshots in the league. We didn't know just how hard until Wednesday.

The Pittsburgh Penguins winger managed to pull off something that's probably never happened in the history of the NHL (or at least for a long time). Evgeni Malkin and Kessel broke into the Vancouver Canucks zone for a 2-on-1 in the second period, and Kessel ripped a shot that rang off the crossbar.

A groan-worthy play for Penguins fans turned into an awe-inspiring one for everyone involved when they realized where the puck ended up: IN THE PENGUINS’ BENCH.

We’re going to need a radar gun on that shot, please. Good gravy, what a shot.
