Red Wings player levels his own captain with accidental hit

It wasn’t soft, either.

You know that friend of yours who's really bad at video games and always ends up killing his own teammates? Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith is that friend.

Just minutes after Detroit captain Henrik Zetterberg netted his 300th career goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs, he got slammed into oblivion by his own teammate. Smith apparently wasn't paying attention when he rammed into his own captain at full speed in the first period.

He was okay, but was probably more shaken up by the whole friendly fire thing than anything else.
