The Washington Capitals have won eight straight games, and a big reason for their success through the month of December is the play of netminder Braden Holtby. His 22 wins on the year leads the NHL while his .932 save percentage and 1.92 goals against average are top five in the league. Holtby continued his brilliance with a 31-save shutout of the Buffalo Sabres on Monday evening, with his biggest test coming in the final moments.
Braden Holtby preserves 2nd shutout of the season with glove save on Evander Kane
Of Holtby’s 30-plus saves in this game, this stop his without a doubt his best.

With the Sabres pressing, Holtby shut the door on Buffalo's Evander Kane as the shifty forward picked a puck from his backhand to his forehand all alone by the side of the cage. The puck was bouncing, which gave Holtby the time to slide over and get an arm on the puck that otherwise was headed into a wide open net for Buffalo.
