The New York Rangers took a commanding 3-1 lead in their first-round playoff series against the Pittsburgh Penguins by winning Game 4 in overtime, 2-1. Kevin Hayes scored the game-winner for New York by knocking home a rebound from the doorstep.
Rangers vs. Penguins Game 4 results: New York comes back to win in overtime
The Penguins jumped out in front early, but couldn’t hang on.

Pittsburgh struck first 2:22 into regulation when Patric Hornqvist deflected a Ben Lovejoy shot into the net. Lovejoy now has two assists in four postseason games this spring. Hornqvist's goal was his second of the playoffs and third point.
New York was sluggish out of the gate, mustering just two shots on net in the first 20 minutes. The Rangers hardly created any early pressure -- their last attempt of the opening stanza came with 6:55 left -- and, frankly, were fortunate to trail by one at intermission.
The Blueshirts came into the second with a refined sense of purpose, however, and tied it up thanks to a goal from Derick Brassard with 2:45 remaining in the period. Brassard jammed a loose puck home from the doorstep after a Rick Nash pass to Ryan McDonagh created havoc in the crease.
New York goaltender Henrik Lundqvist fared well yet again, surrendering just one goal on 23 shots. Marc-Andre Fleury remained solid in the other cage, saving 22 of 24.
Pittsburgh will try to keep its season alive on Friday at Madison Square Garden. Opening face off for Game 5 is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
