Henrik Lundqvist hopes to lead the Rangers to a third straight win and trip to the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday night.
Momentum is currently in favor of the Rangers, who stormed back from a 3-1 deficit in the series to force a Game 7 and send the series back to Madison Square Garden one last time. It’s a familiar situation for the team -- the Rangers have earned victories in their last five Game 7 appearances over the last five seasons.
To make it six in a row, the Rangers will need another strong showing from Henrik Lundqvist, who allowed just one goal in Game 5 and recorded a postseason-best 42 saves in Game 6.
Beating Lundqvist might fall on the shoulders of Capitals star Alex Ovechkin, who enters Wednesday night on a streak of four straight games without a point. He scored goals in Game 1 and Game 2, and managed to record five points in the previous series against the New York Islanders. But since then, he's gone cold.
The winner on Wednesday night will advance to face the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Finals after the Lightning dispatched the Montreal Canadiens in six games.
