After splitting the first two games of the series in New York, the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers will head to Florida for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final on Wednesday night.
Rangers vs. Lightning, 2015 NHL playoffs: Time, TV schedule and live stream for Game 3
Tyler Johnson recorded a hat trick in Game 2 and needs to help the Lightning keep their foot on the pedal against the Rangers in Game 3.
The Lightning battled back from a 2-1 loss in Game 1 to score six times on Henrik Lundqvist in Game 2 on Monday and even up the series. Keeping their foot on the pedal and continuing to find offensive success will be key if the team hopes to take a 2-1 advantage. That means Tampa Bay will need another strong showing from Tyler Johnson, who led the team in scoring during the regular season and notched a hat trick in Game 2.
For the Rangers, a 1-1 tie through two games is just business as usual. This marks the eighth time in the team’s last 12 playoff series that the Rangers are tied after two games and the team is 6-1 in those series during that span. Lundqvist is as good as it gets when the pressure is at its highest and will not be shaken by hostile territory in Tampa Bay.
Still, he’ll have to do better than he did in Game 2 when he allowed six goals and notched only 20 saves. It snapped a streak of 11 consecutive games in which he recorded a save percentage of at least 93 and allowed no more than three goals.
