Blackhawks parade 2015: Date, time and route announced

The Chicago Blackhawks won their third Stanley Cup in six years by closing out the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night in Game 6 at United Center. The Windy City will get to celebrate with the champs on Thursday with a parade followed by a rally.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. CT on Thursday at Jefferson Street, and will run along Monroe Street all the way to Michigan Avenue, Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel announced Tuesday.

The length of the parade route is roughly one mile.

The parade will be followed by a free rally at Soldier Field, with ticketing details to be announced later.

“The City of Chicago is so proud of the Blackhawks, which is why we are going to throw them a celebration that only Chicago can throw -- a celebration worthy of a hockey dynasty,” Mayor Emanuel said in a statement.

The celebration for the Blackhawks has been ongoing in Chicago since Monday night’s 2-0 victory in Game 6. The team and the Stanley Cup were honored at Wrigley Field on Tuesday night before the game between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians.
