One of the NHL's most durable players could miss up to two months with a fractured foot, leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs without one of their best scorers.
James van Riemsdyk out at least 6 weeks with fractured foot
A huge blow to the Maple Leafs.

Leafs winger James van Riemsdyk will be sidelined six to eight weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his left foot. Van Riemsdyk suffered the injury on Jan. 9 in a debilitating 7-0 road loss to the San Jose Sharks. He was a minus-three and only played 15 minutes in that game, so his injury was certainly affecting him.
The 26-year-old winger has only missed two games since joining the Maple Leafs in 2012 in a trade from the Philadelphia Flyers. With 14 goals and 29 points in 40 games, van Riemsdyk is the Maple Leafs' leading scorer. Toronto called up forward Josh Leivo from their AHL affiliate to fill van Riemsdyk's roster spot.
Toronto is expected to trade many of their veteran unrestricted free agents before the trade deadline as the franchise embraces its rebuild. Without van Riemsdyk on the squad, the Maple Leafs roster might look especially thin two months from now.
