Steven Stamkos scores after Lightning passing turns Avalanche defenders into turnstiles

Tampa Bay extended its lead with a dizzying display.

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche came into Tuesday night's matchup as two of the league's hottest teams, but only one of them ended up running in circles while getting scored on.

The Lightning already held a lead in the second period when they pulled out their best passing maneuvers to spring Steven Stamkos with a goal. Ondrej Palat got it started by passing the puck across the ice to Vladislav Namestnikov, who immediately whipped it back the other way to a wide-open Stamkos for the score.

I’ve watched that play numerous times and still have no idea what the Avs were doing, and I’m not sure they did either. What a goal.
