Rolling hockey pucks can often be the downfall of creative plays. Someone gets a rolling puck on a two-on-one or a one-timer? They’re likely to bobble the puck or take too much time that the netminder can get over to make the save.
Blackhawks combine for unorthodox, bouncing tic-tac-toe goal
It’s a highlight reel tally, but not for the reasons you’d think.

This time around for the Chicago Blackhawks, a bouncing puck actually helped them out on their second goal of the evening against the Canadiens.
A seemingly normal tic-tac-toe play was almost derailed thanks to the puck careening off of Jonathan Toews' skate through the blue paint. Netminder Ben Scrivens was out of position on the play and was too turned around to make the potential stop on Toews. Except, the puck went all the way to Marian Hossa on the other side of the cage and deflected into the net off of a skate.
Hossa was originally given credit for the tally, but Toews was given the goal eventually as it was determined Hossa didn’t touch the puck last.
