Islanders’ arching goal fooled Sergei Bobrovsky, and everyone on the ice

You don’t see this every day.

Josh Bailey probably won’t score a goal like this ever again. Early in a Metropolitan Division matchup between the Islanders and Blue Jackets, Bailey got New York up 1-0 on a pretty fluky goal ... that he never even shot.

What should have been a simple backhanded pass from Sam Gagner to a teammate to get the Blue Jackets moving out of their zone turned disastrous. Bailey’s tip arched over everyone and fooled Sergei Bobrovsky in net for the 1-0 Islander lead.

To be fair to Bobrovsky, that was a pretty confusing play that caught almost everyone unawares.
