An Islanders’ forward took a skate blade to the wrist and it’s exactly as bad as it sounds

Hockey is dangerous, friends.

When playing a sport while wearing what are essentially sharp knives on your feet, accidents are bound to happen. Islanders forward Casey Cizikas is the latest to find out the dangers of ice skates after getting sliced with a stray blade from his own teammate.

Cizikas was — obviously — in some pain after taking the skate blade of Anders Lee on his left wrist, right under the padding of his glove. It took a few moments for play to stop, but the Islanders’ trainer immediately rushed onto the ice to help Cizikas off and to the locker room.

The injury occurred within the first two minutes of the Islanders’ tilt against the Capitals, and Cizikas returned to the ice with about eight minutes to go in the period.
