It’s been a rough night in the NHL. David Pastrnak took an elbow to the head from Kris Letang, and now Logan Couture has been knocked out of the Sharks’ game.
Mike Hoffman tossed from Senators’ game after cross-check to the head of Logan Couture
A five-minute major might not be enough for the Ottawa forward.

Mike Hoffman is the culprit here after taking down one of San Jose’s stars with a cross-check to the back of the head.
Hoffman was kicked out of the game and the Sharks were give a five-minute power play in the middle stages of a tied third period game.
It’s definitely the right call, and one that could be punishable by the Department of Player Safety. Hoffman got his stick square on Couture’s head, in a similar vein to Brandon Dubinsky’s cross-check on Sidney Crosby that earned the Blue Jackets’ forward a one-game suspension.
Couture was down on the ice for a few moments but was then escorted to the Sharks’ locker room for further evaluation.
