What a night it has been for Jaromir Jagr. A three-point evening in the Panthers’ 4-3 win over the Sabres has Jagr now tied for second all-time in points with Mark Messier at 1,887.
Jaromir Jagr ties Mark Messier for second on NHL all-time points list
A three-point night has Jagr one away from sole possession of second place.

The 44-year-old was on pace to pass Messier this season, and now we’re in the final stretch, as Jagr has to pot just one more point to take over that No. 2 spot. Jagr was integral to all three of the Panthers’ regulation goals that led them to their victory in the shootout.
His last, a secondary assist from the far wall, tied the game with less than four minutes remaining.

Florida greeted Jagr with a pair of standing ovations after that third point — two well-deserved breaks for applause for a true NHL legend.
Jagr was unable to get that 1,888th point on Tuesday, but he’ll have the chance to overtake Messier on Thursday against Boston.
