Vancouver’s Philip Larsen injured on scary collision and taken off the ice on a stretcher

The Canucks forward was out before hitting the ice after a hit from Taylor Hall.

Update: Larsen was awake and had full movement before the Canucks moved him to a hospital for observation.

Vancouver coach Willie Desjardins gave a full update on his status after the game.

Original story:

A stretcher was needed in New Jersey after Canucks defenseman Philip Larsen got knocked out cold early in the second period on what seemed to be a routine hit from Devils’ forward Taylor Hall.

Hall, not known to be a dirty player, caught Larsen with his head down in the corner behind the net. The shoulder of Hall makes contact with Larsen, who immediately went down.

A scrum broke out after the hit from Hall, and a scary scene unfolded as players jumped over Larsen’s unmoving body to get after the Devils’ forward. The stretcher was immediately brought out and Larsen was taken off the ice after a few moments.

Though Larsen was out before hitting the ice, it seemed as if he regained consciousness and had the ability to move his extremities before being moved off the ice.
