Capitals best NHL’s hottest goaltender 23 seconds into game on funky deflection

Tuukka Rask had no chance here.

When a goaltender’s hot, opposing teams need to be creative in order to beat them. Oftentimes that means dirty, greasy goals from in front of the net.

Tuukka Rask is one such hot goaltender. The Bruins netminder is fourth in the NHL in save percentage with .939 and is leading the league with 14 wins. So, how did the Capitals beat him 23 seconds into their Wednesday night tilt? By a fluky deflection goal, of course!

Justin Williams got the deflection off the shaft of his stick on Evgeny Kuznetsov’s centering feed. There’s no way one of the NHL’s hottest goaltenders was going to stop that one.

And hey, Williams netted his second of the game on another gritty play less than 10 minutes later!
