The Chicago Blackhawks keep stockpiling depth before the 2016 NHL trade deadline, trading minor league defenseman Rob Scuderi to the Los Angeles Kings for defenseman Christian Ehrhoff.
Blackhawks acquire Christian Ehrhoff from Kings for Rob Scuderi
Two contenders swap aging defensemen.

Both players are currently in the American Hockey League, but Ehrhoff is at least expected to help the Blackhawks more than Scuderi and the Kings.
The two veterans have bounced around the league this year. Scuderi began the season with the Pittsburgh Penguins but only registered four points and limited ice time in 25 games before Chicago acquired him for defenseman Trevor Daley in December. The Penguins are still on the hook for $1.125 million of his $3.375 million salary this season.
Ehrhoff faced limited production and ice time in Los Angeles too before he was demoted to the AHL in early February. He has two goals and 13 points in 45 games between both leagues this season. Chicago was reportedly interested in signing him this past offseason.
On Thursday, the Blackhawks began their deadline roster reinforcement by trading for Winnipeg Jets captain Andrew Ladd.
