Welcome to the 2016 NHL trade deadline! You might think that since many trades were already completed before today, the deadline will probably be a bore.
Here’s your 2016 NHL trade deadline bingo card!
You know what this trade deadline needs? Bingo!
Guess again! We’ve got a bingo card for you to play along at home, at work, or while you sit at home as you find an extremely convenient excuse to take off from work. We won’t judge.
There are rules to this game of bingo, however. They are as follows:
- By my calculations, the earliest broadcast time for trade deadline coverage starts at 8 a.m. via Sportsnet. For fairness, 8 a.m. will be the official start time for this bingo.
- While the deadline hits at 3 p.m., many trades often happen after the whistle so we’ll give a 4 p.m. finish time. That’s eight hours right there for potential bingo!
- We’ll have updates on our Twitter, but since we don’t have eyes everywhere, we may miss something. Give us a shout if you see something we don’t!
- The only prize if you win is the satisfaction that you spent all day looking to get bingo instead of worrying about what trades your team did or didn’t make.

Update 4:30 p.m.: Final bingo card is in! Double bingo thanks to big saves from the broadcast teams. Jonathan Drouin and the Edmonton kids will have to wait. Thanks for playing!
Update 2:30 p.m.: We’re coming into the home stretch and we’ve reached double bingo status!
Update 1:13 p.m.: Just after Mikkel Boedker’s trade to the Avalanche, bingo was achieved! We did it!
Update 1 p.m.: The “insiders” are out in full force and we’ve updated this bingo card more times than there have been trades.
Update 12 p.m.: It took until close to the 12 p.m. hour for someone to slip on a fake Twitter account. Stop falling for it!
Update 11 a.m.: TSN came in clutch with a war room shot. Like everything else, however, moves have stalled to a standstill.
Update 10 a.m.: Toronto brought up five AHL players within the last hour, so I say a good portion of their squad qualifies for that bingo spot.
Update 9 a.m.: Strong start, but who knows how the rest of the board will play out throughout the day?
