The NHL playoffs have graced us with a rare butt save

BUTT SAVE!

Mike Smith's butt goal from 2013 will forever live in hockey infamy. More butts were involved in Game 2 between the Red Wings and Lightning, but in a very different way this time.

Instead of causing a goal with his rear end, Danny DeKeyser saved one at a key time for the visiting Red Wings.

With goaltender Jimmy Howard down and out of the play, DeKeyser's posterior was in the right place at the right time to stop a Lightning player's diving attempt to open the scoring.

No ifs ands or buts about it, folks, DeKeyser’s backside has the save of the game so far.

It was a great night for butts in the NHL on Friday as Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Ellis also utilized his backside to save a goal.
