Flyers, Capitals trade furious punches moments after Game 5 puck drop

This is one way to start a playoff game!

The Capitals were gunning for retribution, and they got it. A mere 10 seconds into Game 5 between the Capitals and Flyers, punches were thrown between Brayden Schenn and T.J. Oshie.

The fight was a follow-up to Schenn's cross-check to the knees of Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov in Game 4 during the Flyers' 2-1 win. Schenn's move went unpenalized on the ice, but gained the attention of many due to the dirtiness of the play.

Schenn got the best of Oshie in the scrap, which saw more punches missed than landed. The Flyers forward was clearly expecting to have to answer to the call of the cross-check, and came away with the better of the bout. Washington then took a four-minute high stick penalty, but were able to kill it before the Flyers could strike.
