The hockey world lost another great this past week, as the NCAA released the news on Monday morning that Ron Mason had passed away at the age of 76.
College hockey great Ron Mason passes away at 76
Mason spent 36 seasons in college hockey as one of the NCAA’s most winningest coaches.


Mason was a head coach for 36 seasons, passing through Lake Superior State, Bowling Green and Michigan State during his historic career. Between 1993 and 2012, Mason was the winningest coach in college hockey history, notching 924 wins with just 380 losses. He led both Lake Superior State and Michigan State to titles during his respective tenures with the clubs.
Thirty-three of his coaching years were spent with a winning record. Mason was also inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame back in 2013.
