NHL Draft 2016 live stream: How to watch the 1st round online

The first round of the 2016 NHL Draft is nigh upon us, and the Toronto Maple Leafs will get the fun started with the first overall pick. The first round of the draft begins at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, with rounds two through seven coming on Saturday.

As the winners of the NHL Draft Lottery, the Maple Leafs will likely pick Auston Matthews with the first overall pick. The 18-year-old center from Arizona is the consensus best player in the draft, coming off a terrific season in the Swiss league and good showings at both the World Juniors and the World Championship.

Finnish wingers Patrik Laine and Jesse Puljujarvi are considered the second- and third-best players in the draft after Matthews, and they'll end up with the Winnipeg Jets (picking second overall) or Columbus Blue Jackets (picking third overall). It's the NHL Draft, though, so there's a decent chance some crazy trade happens to shake things up.

Television coverage of the first round will be carried by NBCSN. But if you can’t be around your TV to watch, NBCSports.com has you covered. As usual, they’ll be offering a full live stream of the draft with every first round pick, plus analysis.

Fans can tune in to the live stream early at 5:30 p.m. ET -- and will be able to watch the full first round there.
