The Bruins came centimeters away from a tying goal with seconds left in the first

Brad Marchand will be dreaming about this.

You don’t get closer to scoring than what Brad Marchand just did. The Bruins’ forward was centimeters from scoring his 11th goal of the season — and when we say centimeters, it was really that close.

With seconds remaining in the first period against the Devils, Marchand’s shot slid below the stick of Cory Schneider, but died just before crossing the goal line completely.

Here’s a better angle of the play, which shows the puck not completely crossing the goal line before Schneider was able to cover up.

It was called no-goal on the ice, which likely helped the Devils’ case. The review confirmed the call and the Bruins exited the first period still down 1-0.
