Shea Weber’s slap shot almost took off the hand of his own teammate

Brendan Gallagher has had some bad luck with hand injuries.

In case you weren’t aware, Shea Weber has a devil of a slap shot. It’s tricky to stop and absolutely painful if it hits anything other than net.

Canadiens teammate Brendan Gallagher found out the full force of Weber’s shot as it hit him in the hand in a bad case of friendly fire.

Yeah, that’s really got to hurt. Gallagher seemed to be bleeding from his left hand and in some clear pain on the bench afterwards as he left the game in the third period.

Unfortunately for the Canadiens forward, the injury is in a very similar spot to when a blocked shot ended up requiring surgery to fix two fractured fingers. Gallagher was out six weeks thanks to that hand injury.

Gallagher would not return after Montreal called the wound an “upper body injury”.
