The 2017 NCAA men’s Division I hockey tournament is well underway, with half of the Frozen Four field already set.
NCAA hockey tournament 2017: Live scores, bracket, and schedule
This year’s tournament features some new faces.

No. 1 Harvard and No. 1 Minnesota-Duluth both survived to reach the Frozen Four, but neither had an easy path. Ohio State took Minnesota-Duluth to overtime before falling on Friday, and Boston University took them to overtime again in the quarterfinals before falling on Saturday.
The Bulldogs have earned some rest before the Frozen Four. And Harvard required wins over Providence and Airforce to meet them there.
The Northeast saw the first big upset of the tournament when Notre Dame eliminated top-seeded Minnesota in the first round. The Fighting Irish pulled out an overtime win against UMass-Lowell on Sunday to fill the surprising Frozen Four spot.
Penn State’s story ended at the hands of Denver on Sunday, as the Pioneers will play in the Frozen Four after besting the Nittany Lions 6-3.
So far, the NHL’s top prospects in the tournament have come to play. Charlie McAvoy (Bruins) and Clayton Keller (Coyotes) starred for BU. Will Butcher (Avalanche) leads Denver. Riley Tufte (Stars) and Joey Anderson (Devils) played big roles in Minnesota-Duluth’s rise. All adds to the fun.
The format
The tournament consists of 16 qualified teams in four groups across four regions. The winner of each regional will advance to the Frozen Four, and the winners in the Frozen Four will advance to the championship game at the United Center in Chicago.
ESPNU, ESPN2, and ESPN3 will share most of the tournament’s early games, while the Frozen Four will be on ESPN2 and the championship game will feature on ESPN. Every game will be available online on WatchESPN.com.
