Chicago Blackhawks fans are fretting about Artemi Panarin meeting his performance bonuses, costing the team almost $3 million in cap space next year.
Jack Eichel finished 0.01 points away from a $2 million bonus
And it’s Connor McDavid’s fault.

The Buffalo Sabres narrowly avoided a similar fate with Jack Eichel. Just barely. By the slimmest of margins.
Per CapFriendly, Jack Eichel was set to earn $2 million if he finished in the top 10 in NHL points per game. He missed 21 games earlier this year, so he was already behind the 8-ball. But Leon Draisaitl ruined everything.
0.01 points! No wonder Eichel was so mad on Monday.
The kicker? If Eichel missed one more game, he would’ve averaged 0.95 points per game, good enough for 10th in the NHL. Oof.
The kicker to the kicker? Draisaitl’s goal was assisted by ... Connor McDavid.
