The 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs begin on Wednesday with a quintet of games. Because why wade into playoff hockey when you can cannonball right into the deep end?
NHL schedule 2017: Playoff start times, TV channels, and streaming info for Wednesday
Five games on opening night. Get coffee.

It begins with the Montreal Canadiens hosting the New York Rangers. It’s the first playoff test for Canadiens coach Claude Julien, whom the Habs hired in February. These are two teams known for their speed and world-class goalies (Montreal’s Carey Price and New York’s Henrik Lundqvist).
Boston will take on the Ottawa Senators at the same time, the second Atlantic Division playoff matchup of the evening. Shortly after, the Columbus Blue Jackets make their highly anticipated return to the playoffs against the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins. We have no idea what to expect from this series and it’s great.
The Western Conference playoffs begin on Wednesday, too, with a pair of divisional rivalry games. The St. Louis Blues visit the Minnesota Wild before the Edmonton Oilers host the San Jose Sharks in the nightcap game.
