The Golden Knights took 30 players in the NHL expansion draft on Wednesday night, but those weren’t the only assets they collected.
NHL expansion draft 2017: Every Vegas Golden Knights draft pick through 2020

Vegas general manager George McPhee also needed to build for the future, and he did so by working numerous side-deals with NHL teams over the last few days. He and the Golden Knights came away with a bevy of new future NHL entry draft picks, including a few high ones.
Not to mention the Knights have at least three first round picks in the 2017 NHL draft on Friday in Chicago, with more potentially on the way after the league’s roster freeze lifts at 8 a.m. ET on Thursday.
So let’s recap the picks the Knights now have and how they got them. We’ll obviously update this as the week goes along, but for now you can bask in the hard and impressive work McPhee put in to give the NHL’s newest team a good future.
Let’s talk numbers really quick: Vegas originally had 28 picks from 2017-2020. By the end of the expansion draft, they had 36 picks. All of this is compiled via CapFriendly.
