Lace ‘em up. Time for the Morning Skate.

Three-time Stanley Cup champion and Penguins captain Sidney Crosby hit the ripe old age of 30 on Monday. That’s right, the NHL’s best is considered over the hill in hockey years. And yet, Crosby just came off of an incredible season that saw him win:

  • A World Cup of Hockey gold as the tournament’s MVP.
  • A third Stanley Cup.
  • A second Conn Smythe trophy.
  • An Emmy. Yes, you read that right.

The 2016-17 season was one of Crosby’s best in recent memory, and even though he’s hit the accepted NHL decline barrier, he’s no where close to slowing down. In honor of his greatness, we put together a list of Crosby’s 30 best moments and wacky stories that have defined his greatness to this day.

So yes, Crosby has accomplished more than most human beings ever will and he’s only 30 years old. Let us all take a moment right now to accept our inferiority.


BROADCASTER EDDIE OLCZYK DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER

On Tuesday, the Blackhawks announced that longtime NHL color analyst Eddie Olczyk has been diagnosed with colon cancer. He is currently undergoing treatment and is expected to return to the broadcast booth once he is ready, though it is likely he’ll miss the start of the season in October.

Here’s to an easy recovery, Eddie! We’re all rooting for you here.
