The start of the 2017-18 NHL season is mere weeks away. Training camps are in full swing, and preseason games have already begun to give us some incredible highlights of what’s to come.
Here are all the named NHL captains for the 2017-18 season
Not every one of the 31 NHL teams will have a captain this season. Here’s a list of them all.

With training camps and preseason underway, there’s not many official things left to nail down before the start of a new hockey season. Rosters are being trimmed, but the cores of teams — for the most part — are locked in and ready to go.
There are a few teams, however, that have yet to name captains for the upcoming season. Some teams, like the Toronto Maple Leafs, have already announced that they won’t name an official leader for this season. Others have kept the same captain for years.
Since it’s the beginning of a new year, we put together a comprehensive list of all of the NHL’s captains for the 2017-18 season. There are a few open spots that look quite enticing, and Vegas is set to name their first captain in franchise history sometime within in the next few weeks. Exciting stuff all around!
