This injury to Jack Eichel will not ease the worries of Buffalo Sabres fans. On Saturday, during the first period against the Boston Bruins, Eichel was tied up in an awkward collision and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Buffalo Sabres’ Jack Eichel injured on awkward collision into the boards
The hits just keep on coming for the Sabres.

Eichel and Matt Grzelcyk fell into each other near the boards behind the Bruins bench, and the Sabres’ forward was slow to get up after staying down in serious pain.
It’s hard to say exactly what went wrong for Eichel, but alternate angles show his leg being crushed into the boards at a strange angle. Eichel left after the collision and did not return to start the second period for the Sabers. It was after the second period began that Eichel was ruled out of the remainder of the game for Buffalo.
If this is a leg issue for Eichel, the 21-year-old forward is no stranger to injury there. Before the start of the 2016-17 season, Eichel sustained a high ankle sprain that kept the forward out of the Sabres lineup for a good chunk of the opening part of the season.
This season, Eichel is by far and away the Sabres’ leading scorer in a miserable season. In 53 games this year, Eichel has 54 points and his 22 goals coming into Saturday lead the team. While the Sabres aren’t close to competing for a playoff spot, losing Eichel for an extended period of time would be just another blow to a season to forget in Buffalo.
