Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears: Betting odds, prediction, Week 17 preview

Green Bay dominates at Soldier Field, but that streak was earned by Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, not Matt Flynn. Watch for the opening lines between the Packers and Bears.

The Green Bay Packers are 12-3 ATS in their past 15 trips to Soldier Field and would win the NFC North with another road win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

There is no line posted on this game yet as bookmakers await an update on the status of Aaron Rodgers, according to OddsShark.com.

*Editor Note: Rodgers has been cleared to play and Green Bay is now a 2.5-point favorite.

Green Bay has gone just 2-5-1 SU and 1-6-1 ATS in eight games without Aaron Rodgers, but thanks to late-season stumbles by the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions, the Green Bay Packers still control their own destiny in Week 17.

Aaron Rodgers has been sidelined since November 4 with a broken collarbone and is hoping to be able to return in time for the big game on Sunday. If he can’t, Matt Flynn will once again be under center for the Packers and the NFL football betting situation will take a different turn at the betting window.

The Chicago Bears could have put the division away last Sunday night, but instead suffered a crushing 54-11 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles. Chicago is just 2-3 SU and ATS over its last five games and has been terrible on defense over that run allowing 35.6 points per game.

Needless to say, the Bears would benefit greatly from Matt Flynn starting this game over Aaron Rodgers, as this defense doesn’t look ready to stop an elite quarterback.

Both of these teams have trended towards the OVER of late, with the OVER going 4-1 in Green Bay’s last five games and 5-1 in Chicago’s last six. But historically, these teams always seem to play in low-scoring games; in 12 meetings since 2008, the total has gone UNDER 11 times.

Chicago broke a six-game losing streak against Green Bay in November with a 27-20 win when Aaron Rodgers went down. Even if Rodgers doesn’t play, Flynn gives the Packers life on offense that Seneca Wallace did not.

Jay Cutler and the Bears’ offense will need to be ready for a shootout regardless of who is under center for the Packers with the way this Chicago defense is playing.
