The Alamo Bowl odds see Texas as a 13.5-point underdog going up against the Oregon Ducks in San Antonio, Texas.
Brown is set to resign from Texas (Big 12, 8-4 SU, 6-6 ATS, 5-7 OU) when the season ends, after getting off to a slow start of 1-2 straight-up and against the spread before going on a solid 6-0 straight-up and 4-2 against the spread run that included outright upsets over Oklahoma and TCU.
But a 1-2 straight-up and against the spread finish to the season left the Longhorns out of the Big 12 title picture and in all likelihood cost Brown his job. The total went UNDER in six of Texas’ last seven games.
The Oregon Ducks (Pac-12, 10-2 SU, 7-5 ATS, 7-5 OU) smashed opponents to the tune of an 8-0 straight-up and 7-1 against the spread start and looked well on their way to the BCS National Championship Game. But a 26-20 loss to Stanford sent the Ducks into a tailspin which resulted in a 2-2 straight-up and 0-4 against the spread finish, leaving the Ducks not only out of the BCS title game but the Pac-12 title game as well.
As is the case every year of late, the Oregon Ducks finished the regular season with one of the nation’s most prolific offenses, averaging 573 yards per game and 46.75 points per game.

Oregon is more than capable of keeping that trend alive with a clearly superior team to Texas. But for as strong as the Ducks are on paper, motivation could play a very big factor in this game.
Oregon players were talking about being disappointed about playing in the Rose Bowl; how must the Alamo Bowl feel? And Texas will want to play well in their home state and for Coach Brown in his final game.
There could be more to handicapping this one than just X’s and O’s.
