Oklahoma City vs Portland betting odds, NBA wagering preview

Kevin Durant is on fire and Oklahoma City is torching the profits of anyone who bets against them. Up next is Portland on the NBA odds menu.

Kevin Jairaj-US PRESSWIRE

With fellow Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Russell Westbrook sidelined, Kevin Durant has taken the team on his back and scored at least 30 points in each of Oklahoma City’s last seven games.

The NBA’s scoring leader is averaging 38.3 points per game over that stretch. Oklahoma City hosts the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night as a 5.5-point home favorite at Top Bet. The Thunder have shaken off a 2-4 SU and ATS slump with a 4-1 SU and ATS record over their last three games that includes wins in each of their last three. Durant’s 54 points helped push the Thunder over Golden State 127-121 last Friday.

That was the only game in Oklahoma City’s last five that has gone OVER the total with four of the team’s last five games going UNDER, according to the NBA database at Odds Shark.

Like Oklahoma City, the Portland Trail Blazers started a 2-4 SU and ATS slump in late December that carried over into early January. But in similar fashion the team has been back on track recently with a 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS record over its last five games.

Portland failed to cover the spread in seven straight games in the second half of December but is 5-3 ATS here in January.

San Antonio, Oklahoma City, and Portland are all within one point of each other atop the Western Conference, setting the stage for an interesting battle for seeding over the second half of the season. Head-to-head contests between these teams like Tuesday night’s game will be critical.

Heading into this season, the Oklahoma City Thunder were 7-0 SU and 6-0-1 ATS over their last seven games against the Trail Blazers. But here in 2013-14, Portland has turned the tides of the series with a 111-104 win in Portland at the beginning of December and a 98-94 win in Oklahoma City at the end of December.

Portland was able to hold Oklahoma City to just 94 points despite Kevin Durant’s 37 points the last time these two teams met. The Trail Blazers will need another strong defensive performance Tuesday night to keep the Thunder at bay again.
